Product Review: Witch Blemish Pen

belmish_pen.jpg Due to the strange weather, my skin has been playing up lately, and when I noticed large blemishes appearing all over my face, I knew it was time for something slightly stronger than my normal routine. Skin can become used to the same products, so I decided to try something different, and I'm so glad I did. When I received the Witch Blemish Pen I was initially a bit sceptical, as this is a brand I associate with my teens, but the results spoke for themselves. I was a big fan of the applicator, as the squeezy tube ends in a brush head, so you literally stroke the product onto your skin, and don't need to dab or use your fingers at all. The gel formula is completely invisible, and it dries very quickly. I found that I got better results slightly overloading the skin and using this overnight, as under makeup it looked slightly shiny.

Perfume Review: L’Artisan Parfumeur Havana Vanille

Say what you like about the French, they certainly know their way around perfume, and the L'Artisan Parfumeur is a great place to start if you're looking for a new scent. Established in 1976, the brand has a range of over 20 scents, each appealing to different senses and combining incredibly unique notes. Ingredients such as Absinthe and the dusky dry notes of the Arabian desert can be discovered nestling inside the attractive looking bottles, and choosing one that suits you can be a very enjoyable task. They've just opened a boutique in Covent Garden, and I headed down there to check them out. The bottled are laid out in beautiful lines, with mirrors everywhere and little tasting teapots in front of each bottle to allow you to fully experience each scent. After an enjoyable olfactory session with the master perfumer, I settled upon Havana Vanille as my personal favourite, as it combines heady notes of sweet vanilla with an earthier musky base. It moves away from traditional vanillas in that there is a lot more depth to the scent, it settles on the skin and the throat in a delicious manner, and as the perfume unfolds, richer notes of rum and spice become apparent. It's a scent that reminds you of summer holidays and sunsets, with the mellow notes making it more mature, think evening in Monte Carlo, rather than sunrise in Ibiza. As the scent develops on the skin, you start to notice a smoky woodiness enfold you, with the notes of rum teasing the lips and blending with the vanilla to create something more mysterious and decadent. I've worn this three times, and everytime I've been asked what I'm wearing by people who seem bemused that they're so intrigued by a Vanilla scent. I know that the packaging is a very small, small part of the whole fragrance process, but I just have to mention how beautifully my scent was wrapped up- in lovely black paper with a metal key attached, and placed in a very pretty black bag. It just added to the whole experience of luxury and was a great finishing to touch to the experience.

Perfume Review: Blowing Bubbles with Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Pear Perfumed Les Bulles D’Agathe

MFK-bulles d'agathe.jpg Fragrance should be something fun, something you apply and it fills you with a sense of wonderment and childish delight, but often people get too caught up in the 'composition' and the 'alignment of notes' that they forget they're meant to actually enjoy it. Les Bulles D'Agathe is a new way to enjoy scent as it comes in the form of bubbles! The fragrances are kept within a plastic tube and you need to blow bubbles to release a waft of sweetness into the world. The perfumer Francis Kurkdjian was inspired by his niece Agatha and created these in order to let people experience scent in a totally new way. They''re available in four varieties- Pear, Cut Mint, Cool herbs and the brand new one Violette, and I was sent the Pear to try out. Read on for my thoughts.. and lots of bubble pictures. Firstly I was really surprised by the size of the bottle, it was about three times bigger than expected and had an unusual holograph like sticker on top. The seal was very easy to open and the bubbles blew just like those bubbles of yore, but not with that disinfectant like smell. Every bubble was literally a beautiful floating ephemeral bundle of scent, which when exploded on the arm released gentle notes that soothed and delighted. The pear was crisp, tangy with a hint of sweet and felt really refreshing to wear, and catching the bubbles was a joy in itself. I was pleased to note that they did not mark clothes, nor leave odd marks on the floor, but the seal would have been tighter as when used I was worries about leakages in my bag. None happened, but it felt like they could... Another curious issue was how protective I felt over my bubbles, as I was very aware they were no ordinary floating balls, but costly perfumed delights, and I didn't go as bubble crazy (mostly) as I would with normal bubbles. Overall I LOVE my Pear Les Bulles D'Agathe, and would highly recommend this to anyone with a sense of fun.

Toni & Guy reveal their electrical line up for Autumn Winter

toninnovationrange.jpg Does an electrical brand need to launch an Autumn Winter collection? People don't excatly go, 'Hmm, it's a bit nippy now, better get a new range of tools to go with my on trend ankle boots', do they? Then again, the latest products from Toni & Guy aren't mere hints to dashion, as they're actually updated versions of beloved originals, so as well as shiny new dryers and straighteners you also get the latest in tourmaline technology. Toni & Guy offers three range, the budget friendly Core range, and the more exciting 'Innovation and Signature range. The Innovation range is pictured above and features a dryer/straightener combo which have touch control settings. Both dryer and straightener feature a LCD display which glows red and tells you the temperature, and an iPod-esque dial for adjusting settings. This uses a button layout, an update on their 'joystick' from the previous model. The hairdryer reaches 2000 watts, and has a 3 metre salon cord and variable Ionic and tourmaline barrel, whilst the straightener has a top heat of 230 degrees and 25mm ceramic plates. They will be £39.99 and £59.99 respectively. toniguysignature.jpg
