Perfume Review: Blowing Bubbles with Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Pear Perfumed Les Bulles D’Agathe

MFK-bulles d'agathe.jpg Fragrance should be something fun, something you apply and it fills you with a sense of wonderment and childish delight, but often people get too caught up in the 'composition' and the 'alignment of notes' that they forget they're meant to actually enjoy it. Les Bulles D'Agathe is a new way to enjoy scent as it comes in the form of bubbles! The fragrances are kept within a plastic tube and you need to blow bubbles to release a waft of sweetness into the world. The perfumer Francis Kurkdjian was inspired by his niece Agatha and created these in order to let people experience scent in a totally new way. They''re available in four varieties- Pear, Cut Mint, Cool herbs and the brand new one Violette, and I was sent the Pear to try out. Read on for my thoughts.. and lots of bubble pictures. Firstly I was really surprised by the size of the bottle, it was about three times bigger than expected and had an unusual holograph like sticker on top. The seal was very easy to open and the bubbles blew just like those bubbles of yore, but not with that disinfectant like smell. Every bubble was literally a beautiful floating ephemeral bundle of scent, which when exploded on the arm released gentle notes that soothed and delighted. The pear was crisp, tangy with a hint of sweet and felt really refreshing to wear, and catching the bubbles was a joy in itself. I was pleased to note that they did not mark clothes, nor leave odd marks on the floor, but the seal would have been tighter as when used I was worries about leakages in my bag. None happened, but it felt like they could... Another curious issue was how protective I felt over my bubbles, as I was very aware they were no ordinary floating balls, but costly perfumed delights, and I didn't go as bubble crazy (mostly) as I would with normal bubbles. Overall I LOVE my Pear Les Bulles D'Agathe, and would highly recommend this to anyone with a sense of fun.
